Reflection Cards Deck

A meditative tool for daily practice, brought to life through iterative graphic design and high-quality print.

A tool for the everyday

A special project that has resulted in my biggest graphic design print job yet.

These cards are created so that the user may discover the pattern of the Paschal Mystery: life, death, rebirth. They were inspired by Karen Brodie’s mission to bring the 14 Stations of the Cross to life in intricate fabric art (more details in my work on this campaign here).

The process of creating these cards involved multiple steps: photographing the artwork, writing the prompts and prayers for the back of each card, and designing the aesthetic and tone of the cards as a whole.

As the textile Stations were fabricated, they were photographed with care, in two separate sessions (leaving the final 4 Stations in sketch form for our first round of printing) by photographer Dave Best.

Next, pieces and phrases from the original clergy-written reflections were curated by close friends and family who knew the significance of the artwork.

Following this, digital illustrator Beau Mitzel created the embellishments and decorative elements for design of the back of the cards; and then it was onto my plate, where I easily spent 25+ hours meticulously aligning and formatting each line of text.

The result is a deck of 40 cards, each one designed with precision and detail, with titles on the front and original journal prompts and prayers on the back. The intention is to use these cards as a meditative tool (designed for Lent but not limited to it), a way to ground oneself and be in space of the sacred arts and the accompanying quotes, prayers, and prompts.

This deck was born from art, prayer, and countless hands working together. Now it lives beyond the studio and gallery, offering space for stillness, reflection, and connection wherever it is welcomed. It is a joy to watch it live into the world and to think of all the passion and hard work that went into it.
